This year, I took part in my school’s annual fashion charity show working as a backstage helper, which basically means looking after your assigned model. Clothes, walking times and the like. Our school’s charity show has been running for 6 years, so there were some big designer brands who contributed their clothes to the runway, namely Armani, Valentino and Versace.
It was frenetic and frenzied, but I really loved being able to observe people from behind the stage. The models and designers were all snapping photos of the event and reunions that happen every year. Being a newcomer, I didn’t really know many people but most were quite nice in general. I did emergency duty when I had to fix one of the models’ popped buttons, and noticed that one of the student designers had based their collection on the book Pattern Magic by Tomoko Nakamichi.
